Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of the Super Mario Bros franchise, the success of “The Super Mario Bros Movie” opens the door for the video game giant to seek to develop more movies of other characters that this company has.

“Undoubtedly. We would like to adapt other licenses for movies. But we will go one by one, not all at the same time,” Miyamoto said during an interview when asked if Nintendo will seek more movies from other video game characters.

Miyamoto’s words come at a time when The Super Mario Bros Movie is close to exceeding $800 million in gross since its release date, which makes it a serious candidate to become the highest grossing movie in 2023.

The film, produced by Illumination Studios with support from Nintendo, has already set an all-time record by becoming the highest-grossing animated film of all time on its world opening day.

This record was achieved by exceeding $380 million raised in its first days, leaving behind the $350 million that Frozen 2 collected on its opening day. However, the success of Mario Bros seems to have no ceiling at the moment.
