Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out striker Karim Benzema for next Saturday’s league match against Espanyol.

Although the Merengue helmsman said that “he will be available” next Wednesday against Liverpool in the Champion League.

«Karim has had a blow to the ankle, it has swollen. He has tried to recover for this match, but he has not been able to”, said Ancelotti at the press conference prior to the match against Espanyol.

The French forward, who has not trained this week with the group, “has started training individually today and will be available for Wednesday” in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Liverpool in Madrid, Ancelotti added.

Benzema has accumulated several injuries this season that have prevented him from performing regularly, but Ancelotti wanted to clear up any doubts about the French striker, although he admitted that the team has accused his absences.
