Former Manchester United and Netherlands goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar was hospitalized in an emergency after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

International media indicated that the former soccer player, now 52 years old, was on vacation in Croatia when he had to be rushed to hospital aboard a helicopter.

Ajax, the club where Van der Sar played from 1990 to 1999, reported that he is in intensive care, although stable, but his health remains a concern.
