El Salvador will host the Central American and Caribbean Games for the third time in its history. The first was in 1935 and the second in 2002.



El Salvador is 100 days away from inaugurating the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023, a competition that will take place from June 23 to July 8, and it is a strong commitment of the government of the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, for the sport.

El Salvador accepted the challenge of organizing, in record time, the San Salvador 2023 Games that will open the curtain of the Olympic Cycle in the region towards Paris 2024.

According to the sports program of the San Salvador 2023 Games, there will be 38 sports in total, with 32 of them and 45 sports disciplines in the Salvadoran capital, while in the sub-venue of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, six sports and nine sports disciplines will be played. .

The organization of the games is a work articulated by different institutions that make up the Sports Cabinet, made up, in turn, by different State portfolios, in coordination with the Organizing Committee (COSSAN2023), the National Sports Institute of El Salvador ( INDES), the Olympic Committee of El Salvador (COES) and the Mayor’s Office of San Salvador, among others.

The president of the Organizing Committee for the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 (COSSAN2023), Yamil Bukele, recently highlighted that it will be a country party and explained that a total of 465 events will be held in the regional fair, in which 1,499 medals, distributed in 465 gold, 465 silver and 569 bronze.

Some of the venues intervened are: Jorge “Mágico” González National Stadium, José Adolfo Pineda National Gymnasium, El Polvorín Sports Complex, Saturnino Bengoa Ball Park, Ciudad Merliot Sports Complex, Pablo Arnoldo Guzmán Softball Stadium, San Andrés Equestrian Complex, the Carlos “El Famoso” Hernández Sports Palace and Las Delicias National Stadium.
