Rubén Antonio Meléndez was one of the great scorers of the Teotepeque team in the first round of group A in the 2023 CEL Cup Beach Soccer League.
Meléndez scored five goals against BS-UES on Saturday in their first official match in the Beach Soccer League. On Sunday they also had a good game but only managed to celebrate a goal against Barra Ciega.
“It is the first time that I play in this league and it is a great joy and pride for the whole team. I think that as a team we have played well and we have nothing to complain about. We are leaving everything on the pitch”, commented the soccer player who lives in Playa Mizata.
In their two games, Teotepeque, a new member of the League, is emerging as a seasoned team and left good feelings at the Estadio Nacional Costa del Sol.
Meléndez’s teammate in the Teotepecan team’s attack is Daniel Ventura, who managed to score two goals against the university students and four goals against Barra Ciega.
Rubén explained that apart from playing soccer in modality 11 and beach, he is dedicated to fishing on Mizata beach, La Libertad.
“I was born on Mizata beach, I have played soccer 11 there since I was little and I have been practicing beach soccer for about two months. This is the first time that I compete in a league, I feel that it has not been difficult for me to adapt to this modality”, he said.
