The Salvadoran surfer, Sindy Portillo, returned to raise the flag of El Salvador at the top, after winning the gold medal in the longboard category.

Portillo dominated the waves at Punta Roca and hung the gold medal around his neck, playing the Salvadoran anthem once more at the awards ceremony.

A few minutes earlier, surfer Amado Alvarado had won the second gold medal for El Salvador, also in the longboard category.
