Various media have reported this Thursday that the former Paralympic athlete, Oscar Pistorius, convicted of killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, has requested the benefit of probation and his future will be decided in a hearing to be held on March 31.
The 36-year-old former South African athlete killed the model during the early hours of February 14, 2013 by shooting him four times through the bathroom door of his home in Pretoria.
According to the report, in South Africa, inmates are automatically entitled to parole after they have served half their sentence. The law is the same for everyone, “Oscar Pistorius is no exception,” they said.
The former Olympic medalist always denied having killed his partner in a fit of rage, he claimed to do so at all times after mistaking her for a thief. It was for this reason that the ‘Blade Runner’ was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
